The importance of local manufacturing to the Bay Area’s economy and to our physical safety has become increasingly clear this year.
In addition to ensuring that we have the essential products we need to survive, our local manufacturers have set a shining example of creative problem-solving: retooling to offer new products; displaying deep caring for their employees; modeling responsibility to the greater community through donations and volunteering; and, above all, leading with vision and heart.
Join SFMade, MFG:SJ, the Bay Area Urban Manufacturing Initiative, and our 30+ partner cities and counties in paying tribute to the work that manufacturers do every day to create a safe and robust Bay Area during 2020 Bay Area Manufacturing Week.

City of Milpitas Event
October 4, 2019 @ 8:00 am - 2:00 pm
The City of Milpitas is reaffirming its commitment to growing a qualified local workforce this year by again partnering with the Milpitas Unified School District to create the community’s third “Manufacturing Day” on October 4, 2019. This event is a fantastic way to shed light on what advanced manufacturing is really about in the 21st century while also addressing the industry’s skilled labor shortage. This year’s event will include two of Milpitas’ very own manufacturers, Onanon and Flex, who will open their doors to Milpitas Unified School District students, educators, elected officials, business professionals, and community representatives. Onanon is a fully integrated design, manufacturing and testing facility of electromechanical interconnects and cable assemblies. Flex is a leading global electronics manufacturer that provides sketch-to-scale solutions by designing and building intelligent products.Students will be able to see firsthand the wonderful opportunities in advanced manufacturing through engaging presentations, facility tours, and hands-on demonstrations.
